The coffin of a document; the scabbard of a bill; the husk of a remittance; the bed-gown of a love-letter.”
-Ambrose Bierce

Dinner in the Laundry Room

On Sunday, we decided

to start eating dinner

in the laundry room

because the murmur

of the washing machine

sounded better

than our voices.

By Wednesday though,

we had no more clothes

to wash, so we shed

what we had on and ate

in our eager flesh.
